The Solution Oriented Schools Programme (SOS) is a strengths-based school improvement programme that builds on school capacity and inclusive practice. It provides the architecture to develop systems in order to deliver a schools vision. SOS was developed by SYCOL and Moray Council and is implemented across many LAs and used by Scottish, Irish and Jersey Governments. It is recognised by Ofsted in England, Estyn in Wales and HMIe in Scotland as effective school improvement practice.

The SWorks Programme is a strengths-based service and organisation improvement programme that provides the architecture for increased organisational capacity by achieving refined delivery systems and distributed leadership. Children and Young People's Services (CYPS) and various multi-agency teams benefit from the programme's key deliverable of how to build a great organisation.

The Sycol Wellbeing Programme is for the staff of any organisation. In contrast to other Wellbeing programmes its effectiveness comes from its simplicity. Through training, W facilitators are equipped to implement the programme within their team, service or organisation – building capacity. We are seeing schools, organisations and HR departments opting for the Sycol W programme having spent too much precious time and money on other, complex, statistical, audit-driven programmes that deliver little else in the mid to longer-term.

The MAXSolutions Programme is a peer support programme for pupils and students, based on the same principles as the SOS. School staff are trained as trainers who then train pupils and students as MAXAgents enabling them to support themselves and others across    the age range. This strengths-based programme is fun and an effective framework that provides a structured Wellbeing programme for school-aged youngsters. The programme also acts to facilitate the smooth transition of pupils between the primary and secondary  sectors.

The 3 session change programme (3scp) was developed by Sycol in 2001 following years of research and practice in using the solution-oriented therapy model with a wide range of client groups of any age.  Its focus is on being, clear, simple, flexible and results oriented. The 3scp is an intensive, highly effective approach which combines the very best of Solution-focused technique, Collaborative-Competency and Narrative Therapy approaches. It can be easily learnt and taught to professionals working in a variety of contexts and comprises of three, 30 minute, 1:1 conversations.

The 3scp is useful for those workers with very little time on their hands, having to work briefly and flexibly with clients, yet wishing an effective and strengths-based model to implement.

BriefCoaching® is an adaptation of the 3scp therapeutic model for coaching rather than therapeutic contexts. Applied and integrated into our other  programmes it is used in leadership, corporate, teacher, medical and life coaching contexts. BriefCoaching® programmes are as follows:

  • BriefCoaching Solutions™
providing 1:1 transformation through BriefCoaching® sessions
  •
  • BriefCoaching Systems™
organisational improvement by building BriefCoaching® systems

  • BriefCoaching Style™
improving management & leadership styles by acquiring BriefCoaching® skills
